Happy Thursday! At work today I ran across this story and I had to share. Ethan Zohn, the most recent winner of Survivor spoke at Clarke University (my alma mater) . He used his 1 million dollar prize to open a non-profit organization called Grassroot Soccer, which promotes HIV and AIDS prevention education to Africa’s youth. How cool is that! The mission statement is: Grassroot Soccer uses the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize communities to stop the spread of HIV. Before Survivor, Zohn was a professional soccer player. For more information about Grassroot soccer, or about how you can help the cause, check out this link: http://www.grassrootsoccer.org/. I think one of the easiest ways to help make a difference is to donate to an organization. You can even just buy a t-shirt!
“You don’t have to be Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Donald Trump or win a reality TV show,” Zoha said during his speech at Clarke. “There are plenty of things that each and every one of us can do. To do nothing is to act. To do nothing is a conscious decision. We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
