E! Star Inspires Good Deeds

As some of you may have heard, Giuliana Rancic (E! News extraordinaire) was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and shared her story here. As a huge fan I was immediately heartbroken and wanted to learn more which prompted me to check her twitter account. Nowhere did I find more information about her diagnosis, instead I found this: “To whom much is given, of him shall much be required. -Luke 12:48. Send me ways u are giving back today and I will share them here…” Several of her followers shared small ways they are giving back, such as volunteering at the Salvation Army, buying coffee for a Vietnam Vet and helping family learn how to use technology. Perhaps these seem small or insignificant but it is so important to realize the strength of small efforts in humanity.

I was touched to hear about how individuals around the world are doing small deeds to give back, but what spoke to me the most was Giuliana’s decision to post this tweet. Through hard times the most satisfying therapy can be helping someone else have a better day. I believe her decision to hear from her followers speaks true of her character and I wish her health and happiness!

If you want happiness for an hour — take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day — go fishing.
If you want happiness for a year — inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime — help someone else.
Chinese Proverb

This quote speaks truth to our new blog and will be a constant reminder of what we are trying to achieve. Giuliana’s post is also a perfect example of the goal for everyonecandosomething. We all hold the ability to care for each other–make a small effort for someone else and watch yourself grow.
